Collection: Yanmar YM1600

The YM1600 is a 19 horsepower (16PTO HP), 2 cylinder diesel tractor manufactured in Japan. It was manufactured between 1975 up to 1980 and was available in a 2wd YM1600 version only. There was no 4wd version of the YM1600. All of the YM1600 models use the same 2TR16 Yanmar diesel engine. The YM1600 does not have a water pump but, instead, relies on a Thermo-Siphon system where hot water rises in order to circulate the coolant. For this reason it is very important to limit the antifreeze mixture to no more than 25% in the summer and switch back to a 50/50 mix in the winter if freezing weather is expected. A 50/50 mixture is too thick to circulate during the summer months. It is also recommended that you install a temperature gauge to monitor overheating. Overheating & freeze cracking is a common failure point with these tractors.
