Add A Loader To My Yanmar Tractor
Every front loader kit will include instructions for physically bolting the loader to the frame of your tractor. These procedures will all be different depending on the loader manufacturer. The instructions below are for connecting the loader's valve to your tractor's hydraulics.
The easiest way to plumb the hydraulics on a loader to your tractor is by using our kit in the link below. This kit will allow you to remove your factory steel hydraulic pressure line (the small line) it and replace it with a hose which you can plumb right into your loader valve.

How it works:
- Remove your factory pressure line (the small steel line not the bigger one)
- Bolt the custom aluminum adapter to your pump using included bolts & included O-ring. Do not overtighten bolts. You will notice one side of the aluminum adapter has an o-ring groove and one side has a flat pocket. The fitting screws in from the flat pocket side and the o-ring sits in the o-ring groove. You can use a thick grease to hold the o-ring in place if you need to.
- Attach the included swivel fitting to the aluminum adapter. Position the fitting to the direction that you want and tighten the locking nut. It is an o-ring fitting so no need to overtighten.
- Run the included hose from the swivel fitting to your loader valve's inlet port
- Screw in the included banjo bolt adapter fitting into the transmission where your old line attached. One copper washer goes above the fitting and one below.
- Use another section of 3/8" hose (not included but we can supply) with JIC-6 ends from your loader valve's 'Out' port to the custom banjo fitting included in our kit.
- The hydraulic system will 'bleed' itself instantly as soon as you start the tractor and you will be ready to go!
Things to consider:
- You can also add quick disconnect fittings if you will be removing your loader frequently. I recommend that you NOT use them but if you do then you MUST attach the couplings together to maintain the flow of oil if you disconnect them. Please check out our article on 'hydraulic pump deadheading'.
- This is the traditional way of plumbing these compact loader valves and it works just fine. You can also plumb them using a power beyond (PBY) style valve. Actually, most valves are able to be used either way but they require a special fitting to be installed to use them as PBY. This PBY style of plumbing is what is used in commercial equipment is it is more reliable but also adds an extra hose and extra complications. It requires a third hose plumbed to the dipstick port of your transmission using a special adapter (we can provide). If you are building a commercial machine that must run 24/7 for thousands of hours- power beyond is the way to go. If you are going to use the loader to maintain your personal property and put a few hundred hours per year on the tractor- the two hose plumbing is the way to go.
To put in context- one of the largest loader manufacturers in the USA for Yanmar tractors only supplied instructions & parts for the 2-hose style install for as long as I can remember (they may have changed now I don't know). It is the way that I personally installed my loader.
