My New Yanmar Fuel Filter Will Not Fit

Sometimes the metal top from your old filter can come unglued from the old filter and can still be stuck up in the filter valve. We see that quite a lot.

Take a look at your old filter and see if it has a metal cap on both ends. If not, you will need to pull the top of your old filter out of the valve and you should be back in business.

We recommend sticking the new filter up onto the barb in the fuel filter valve and then sliding the bowl up over the filter (instead of sitting the filter in the bowl and sliding buth up at the same time). This helps make sure that the filter gets correctly onto the barb.

Then just quickly run through the fuel filter bleeding instructions. and you should be back working again.

If that is not the problem then it could also be that a previous owner or importer has installed a smaller bowl and filter onto the tractor. We also see that alot. If that is the case then buying the correct size bowl will get you going again.

If neither of those help then please let me know and we will figure out what is going on.
