Yanmar Tractor Serial Number Location

If you are having trouble finding your tractor model number or tractor serial number you are not alone. This is one of the most common questions that we get asked here. 

The seral number and model number are usually stamped into the left side transmission area of almost all "YM" series tractors. There will be a small oval/rectangular area (around 1" x 3") that it smooth and flat where the numbers were hand stamped. If the tractor has been repainted it might be extremely hard to see the number indentations. You can use a damp rag or a little bit of sandpaper to help accent the recessed number area.

The serial number is just an incremental number that started with a number (something like 10000 or something not usually zero) and went up with every tractor. There is no encoded model data or date embedded like in a vehicle VIN number.
