Premium Yanmar Tractor Fuel Filter
Don't take chances with your fuel system. Change your filter regularly and use a good quality filter. Injection pump problems can easily cost close to $1,000 to fix.
Recommended Items:
- Fuel Bowl O-Ring (1 Required)
- Fuel Bowl (1 Required)
- Fuel Bleeder Screw Seal (2 Required)
How to change:
- Shut off the fuel using the fuel shutoff on the fuel filter head. If it is hard to move DON'T FORCE IT. It will break off. You can just use vice-grips to clamp on the hose to shut the flow of fuel off.
- Unscrew the nut holding the fuel bowl in place.
- Remove the fuel bowl
- Remove the filter. The filter might be stuck in the housing or might be in the bowl.
- Inspect the filter to be sure both ends have metal caps. It is common for the top metal cap to come unglued and remain stuck in the housing.
- Clean the bowl with fresh diesel and install new O-Ring
- Install the new filter onto the nipple inside the housing. The filter should hang by itself.
- Install the bowl over the filter.
- Start the threads on the retainer nut but do not tighten.
- Turn on fuel flow and let bowl completely fill with fuel
- Tighten nut
- Loosen bleeder screws until fuel flows without bubbles & re-tighten
- Start engine and check for leaks.
- If engine does not start DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID!!!! You might have air in the lines. Check out our tech article on bleeding the fuel system below.
